The site of the Freud Museum at Berggasse 19 was Sigmund Freud's home and consulting rooms for almost 50 years, until his departure for London in 1938. It has been preserved intact and includes a replica of his famous couch along with a library, complete with journals and signed first editions of his works, including "The Interpretation of Dreams". A copy of "The Future of an Illusion", bearing a dedication to Alfred Indra, the family lawyer, dated 4th June 1938, the day Freud left Vienna, is also on display. Freud's daughter, Anna, operated her practice for child analysis in the same building. In the media centre, there is archive film footage, recorded by Anna during the last year of her life, which gives a fascinating insight into Freud, his family and friends during the years 1930 to 1939.
