This museum, housed in the former Eskeles Palace, displays permanent and temporary exhibits portraying the Jewish history and culture in Austria. Its temporary exhibitions are often on Jewish literature, architecture, photography and art. The Vienna Jewish Museum was officially opened on 18th November 1993 by Helmut Zilk, the Mayor of Vienna and the Jerusalem Mayor, Teddy Kolleck. A recent donation of 5,000 exhibits by Martin Schlaff, a collector of anti-Semitic artefacts has further bolstered the museums' displays.
