This stunning exhibit portrays the art of elegant dining at its best. Set on the ground floor of the Hofburg (Imperial Palace), the winter residence of the Habsburgs, the imperial silver collection, together with displays of the royal table settings are indicative of the opulent lifestyle led by this royal family over the centuries. Knives and forks take on a new meaning when a table set for a state affair entails 13 different utensils for each setting. Beautifully illuminated cases, full of silver plates, bowls and trays are cleverly presented by the use of mirrors, whilst sumptuously decorated porcelain and exquisite table linen compliment the glittering silver.
